Numana

Here is where everything started

Ever since I was little, I have been travelling. First with my parents, between two different cities of Italy and two different cultures. My parents are from the south of Italy but all my friends (and the place that I am most attached to) are from a beautiful region in the centre of Italy called Marche.

Numana is a small town of this region and I feel really lucky to come from a place like this. This land has everything you need to satisfy your eyes and your heart, the view of the Adriatic Sea on one side and the Appennini mountains on the other side.
You can't get bored! There are plenty of activities both in summer and winter, from the sea to the mountains, from the little old villages on top of the hills to the more modern ones by the beach.

This is a place that gives its best in summer but also, in winter, it is a very nice place to be. The weather is not that cold and the empty beaches, combined with the sound of the waves and the sunset, are more relaxing that anything else.
There, exactly on that rock, in a winter day, that is when all my ideas of travelling started.

Have a walk on the seafront from Marcelli to Numana, until the port. It is very nice, full of bars, ice cream shops, boutique and restaurant where you can always find fresh fish.

Numana is located on the top of the hill and there are two famous spots where you can have the best view of the territory and take stunning photos; "Piazza Nova" which is a park surrounded by woods, from where you are able to see the Mount Conero and all the Numana's beaches and then, "La Torre", where you have a lot of characteristic houses all in different colours and the view on the other side where, in a very nice, day you can see the shape of the Sibillini Moutains and all the other towns.

Traditional Food

If you are traveling to Marche and you are by the sea you cannot not try the famous "Moscioli selvatici of Portonovo", it is a mussel but you can't call it mussel.
The characteristic of this delicious sea food is that, due to the rocky territory, the Mosiolo can reproduce spontaneously and this makes it a wild mussel.

From 2004 The Mosciolo is part of the slow food organisation which  enhances and protects the territory.
