I have been told that, for the short time that I have lived in London, I know this city quite well and it is true! Why keep going out in the same places if you have an entire city full of different experiences to offer? Just get out, get lost and discover new things.
If you like live music, relaxing gardens, street food or simply a place that doesn't make you feel you are in London, here is the top 5 for all different tastes:
1- Mercato Metropolitano
If I want to eat a good pizza this is the place where I go. Mercato Metropolitano is very close to the city centre, only 5 minutes away from Elephant and Castle and 14 minutes from London Bridge station. If you really like Italian food this is a place that you should visit, with a lot of different stands from different regions of Italy and if this is not really your thing, it doesn't matter because there are also stands from different parts of the world including beer gardens, cocktails bars, breweries and live music in the weekends.
Mercato Metropolitano also has a secret Backyard Cinema that changes style almost every season, with 2 gardens, one very cosy in the front and one in the back (open from spring until September) which is much bigger and has the ability to look like a tropical place even though the train is just above your head.
Mercato Metropolitano always gives me good vibes but in the summer is a place that really makes you take a break from the chaotic of London.
2- Dalston Curve garden
My favourite place when is time to relax. The Dalston Eastern Curve Garden is a real garden, you just have bunch of different chairs and tables between the tomatoes and the courgettes. Open everyday from 11am, you can come here simply to have a coffee and change scenery or in the evening to drink a beer with friends. When it's busy you can just grab a blanket and seat on the ground and if is too cold they also provide hot water bottles. When it starts to become dark all the fairy lights around the trees will light up and the place suddenly turns into a magic land.
Dinerama is an actual Street food Market with lots of good vibes in the centre of Shoreditch. Divided in two levels it's the perfect place if you want to go out with your friends and you don't want to get mad because people want to eat or drink different things, here there are enough choices to make everybody happy and you can enjoy your time together.
4- Brixton Pop
I love Brixton and this is the place where I go if I want to listen to good music and dance, with a calendar full of events and concerts. Also, Brixton Pop is filled with street food stands and shops and an urban garden. Brixton Pop will not stay open for long, in fact, is a temporary program to help the locals and creatives to start their own business. It will stay open until 2020, this is why you should hurry up and go visit it.
5- Acklam Village Market
At the famous Notting Hill's Portobello Road it's hidden Acklam Village market, this is a place that you will definitely love if you like live music. You are allowed to bring food from outside but you should get drinks inside the Acklam Village and there you can enjoy all kinds of music from local songwriters and others.
